How Long Does Google Business Profile Verification Take?

Google says a business verification video is reviewed in up to five business days. Other verification methods exist, and which one you are offered can differ by business. If verification fails, open your profile, check the reasons, and send a corrected video instead of creating a new profile.

What Google says

On its video verification help page, Google describes a live, unedited video of at least 30 seconds, recorded and uploaded from a mobile device. Review takes up to five business days. While it is pending, there is nothing to do but wait.

That page also points to other verification methods in a separate article. Which method you see is decided by Google and can vary from one business to the next, so follow the options shown inside your own profile rather than what a friend was offered.

If verification fails

Google’s steps are simple. Open the profile on your phone and tap Review issues to see why it was rejected. Record a new video that includes everything from the first one plus whatever was missing, and upload it. That review can take up to another five business days.

If you are still stuck after checking the requirements, Google suggests trying another verification method. You can also delete your video at any time.

Why verification gets rejected

  • The video does not show enough to prove the business is real and operating at that location.
  • The name in the profile does not match what is visible on signage, vehicles, or paperwork.
  • The address cannot be matched to a real location that fits the business, which is common with virtual offices and mailbox addresses.
  • The video is edited, cut, or recorded as a series of clips instead of one continuous take.

Google’s address rules say P.O. boxes and virtual offices are not eligible, so those will keep failing no matter how many times you resubmit.

If you work from home or have no storefront

Service businesses that travel to customers are allowed to hide their address from the public. Google’s example is a plumber working from a residential address, who should remove the address from the profile. Hiding your address controls what the public sees. Verification is its own step, so follow the prompts shown inside your profile.

What not to do while you wait

  • Do not create a second profile for the same business. It can cause duplicates and slow everything down. Here is how to deal with a duplicate listing.
  • Do not keep changing the name, address, or categories. Large edits can send you back through review.
  • Do not pay anyone who promises instant verification. Only Google can verify a profile.

When to ask for help

If you have submitted a corrected video twice and are still rejected, stop guessing. Check that the name, address, and category are correct and match what the video shows. If the profile is suspended or does not appear after verification, my guides on suspended profiles and profiles that do not show up cover the next steps.

Before you record the video

Read Google’s requirements first, because the page lists what the video has to show. Then walk the route once without recording, so you know where you will point the camera. Make sure the name you entered in the profile is the name visible on your sign, truck, or paperwork, and that you are standing where the address says you are.

Record it in one take, in good light, with the sound on. A rushed clip that fails costs you another five business days, so a few minutes of preparation is cheap.
