Google Business Profile
In the 2026 Whitespark survey of local SEO specialists, the frequency of Google Posts ranked 148th for map pack results, keywords in posts ranked 160th, and the number of posts ranked 168th. Keyword stuffing in posts showed up on the list of negative factors, and as a suspension risk.
That does not mean posts are worthless. It means the effort is better spent elsewhere first. Primary category, distance, and reviews all sit far higher in the same survey.
Posts are free and sit on your profile where customers are already looking. A recent photo of a finished job, a seasonal reminder, or an offer tells a possible customer that someone is home. For a business that gets most of its work from people who check the profile before calling, that is worth a few minutes.
My view, not a study: every week or two is plenty if you have something worth saying, and nothing at all is better than filler. A burst of ten posts followed by six quiet months looks worse than one honest post a month. Pick a rhythm you can keep.
Do not stuff posts with service and city keywords. The survey lists it as a negative factor, and it makes the post unreadable. Do not repost the same text again and again. Do not use stock photos if you can take real ones.
The easiest system is to take a photo at the end of each job and write the post from your phone the same day. If one person on your team handles it, it takes five minutes. Put the effort first into the things that move rankings: the category, the services list, and a steady review routine, covered in my Business Profile optimization guide.
Four posts a month is already more than many competitors manage, and none of it needs a designer. If a month gets busy, let it slide. The profile does not punish you for a gap the way a missed review routine will.
