Plumbing Local SEO
Hire the company that can explain how it will get your plumbing business into the map results, tell you what it will do in the first 90 days, and let you own every account. Be wary of anyone who guarantees a ranking or wants to rename your Business Profile.
A burst pipe or a dead water heater is not a comparison-shopping problem. The customer wants someone who answers the phone now. Whitespark’s May 2025 study of 540 searches in Denver, Houston and Phoenix found a local map pack on 93% of local-intent searches, so for something like “emergency plumber near me” the map results are what a customer sees first. Your Business Profile, reviews and answered calls matter more than blog traffic.
Plumbing also splits into very different jobs: emergency repair, water heaters, drain cleaning, sewer lines and remodel work. Each is a different search from a different customer, and a company that treats them as one page is leaving most of them uncovered.
How will you work on my Google Business Profile? A real answer covers categories, services, photos, hours and reviews. “We optimize it” is not an answer. Our guide to plumber Business Profile categories shows what a good setup looks like.
Will you change my business name? Google’s guidelines say a name should match your real-world name and not include service descriptions or location details, and that adding them could get the profile suspended. A name like “Denver Emergency Plumber 24/7” is a risk, not a shortcut.
Will emergency repair, water heaters and drain work get their own pages? Each one answers a different question, so each deserves its own page or a clearly separate section.
Which cities will you build pages for, and what will be different on each one? Pages that only swap the city name are the doorway pattern in Google’s spam policies.
Who owns the accounts? You should own your Business Profile, website, analytics and any call tracking numbers, so you can leave without losing them.
How will you report results? Ask for calls, direction requests and booked jobs, not only rankings or impressions.
Do you work with Local Services Ads? Google’s own page lists plumbers among the businesses that can use them, and they charge per lead. A good partner can explain when ads make sense, including what the October 2026 missed-call charge means for a business that cannot always answer a call.
How do you get reviews without breaking Google’s rules? Rewards, or asking only happy customers, are red flags. Our review request templates show a safe way to ask, and our plumber review guide covers the rest.
What will happen in the first 90 days, and when should I expect movement? Local rankings take months, and our timeline guide explains what each month usually looks like.
Google’s guidance on working with an SEO says no one can guarantee a number one ranking, and that claims of a special relationship with Google deserve suspicion. It also warns about unsolicited emails about your rankings and anyone who will not explain what they plan to change.
Pricing depends on how competitive your area is and how much work your profile and website need. Our local SEO cost guide has ranges for Denver service businesses, so you can tell whether a quote is reasonable.
Plumbing is licensed at the state level in Colorado. The state plumbing board issues residential plumber, journeyman plumber and master plumber licenses, and you can check any of them with the state’s license lookup. Cities add their own layer. Arvada’s plumbing license, for example, rests on a state master plumber or contractor license, and Westminster, Aurora and Commerce City ask for state and master licenses as well. See our notes for Arvada, Westminster and Aurora.
Whatever license number appears on your website and profile should match your records, and your business name, address and phone should match everywhere. See NAP consistency for why that matters. Google’s Local Services Ads page also notes that businesses may need to show a license or registration to qualify for the verified badge.
